Kefalas running for District 52A Fort Collins community activist, John Kefalas, has announced his candidacy for Colorado House District 52. Republican Bob McCluskey, serving his first term, currently represents the district. "I'm running for HD 52 to serve the people, be a voice for the 'least among us' and offer an alternative vision for our future, one that promotes the ordinary interests over special interests and gives the people reason to get involved in our representative democracy," said Kefalas, a Democrat. Kefalas said his campaign will emphasize the inclusion of all people, especially those whom society seems to dismiss as unimportant. Kefalas, 49, has been a resident of Fort Collins for more than 27 years. He has worked as a teacher, social worker, employment counselor and public policy advocate. In the past two years, he has led a coalition to establish the Colorado Housing Trust Fund, which would provide a reliable funding source for affordable housing. House District 52 covers north and eastside neighborhoods in Fort Collins, including Poudre Valley Mobile Home Park on the north, EPIC on the east and Fossil Creek Park on the south. |
