The Gardens on Spring Creek hosts variety of classes

The Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins has a host of classes to get area residents into the swing of gardening.

The Gardens, owned by the city, is located at 2145 S. Centre Ave. (south of Prospect Road). It will also hold a fund-raiser plant sale on April 28.

Classes require advance registration unless noted otherwise. Call 416-2486 for additional information.

  • April 10 - Designing the year-round garden, 7 p.m. Instructor: Lauren Springer Ogden. Cost for four-week class is $75 member, $80 nonmember.
  • April 11 - The best approaches to vegetable gardening, 12 p.m. Brown-bag lunch program presented by Susan Bonsall, master gardener. Free, no registration required.
  • April 16 - Making herbal remedies, 6:30 p.m. Instructor: Kathryn Higgins. Cost is $20 member, $25 nonmember. Information: 416-2486.
  • April 19 - Container gardens, 7 p.m. Instructor: Jeff Sorenson. Cost is $20 member, $25 nonmember.
  • April 26 - Natural dyes for the Rocky Mountain area, 6 p.m. Class held at Lambspun, 1101 E. Lincoln Ave. Instructor: Shirley Ellsworth. Cost for two-session class: $33 member, $38 nonmember.
  • April 28 - Sweet and savory spring plant sale, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Herbs, unique annuals, ornamental grasses, plus both heirloom and traditional vegetable starts grown by greenhouse volunteers. Proceeds go toward future developments at The Gardens.

  • Read and Seed - Storytime plus fun and educational hands-on activities for 4 to 6 year olds. Ongoing, Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Cost is $2.50 per session or $10 for five sessions.
  • Garden Journeys - Healthy snack, art, music, math, science and all around plant fun for 6 to 12 year olds. Second and fourth Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m. $5 per session or $22.50 for five sessions. Reservations required.
