RFL program keeps charity dollars at homeChurches, community groups and businesses in Red Feather Lakes continue to expand services supported by local charitable donations. The startup cost for a home health aid program is now being funded and should be available in a few months. In 2005, Morning Star and Chapel of the Pines churches joined forces with Fox Acres Country Club, Red Feather Medical Clinic and other local businesses to create Mountain Community Churches Assistance Program. It initially focused on home heating needs. Food for needy families is also available, and the program has been expanded this year to include some support for medical expenses. The committee is currently investigating options to aid those in need to become more financially independent. One such effort is to make available professional financial counseling. Requested funds are paid directly to the supplier, assuring that they are being used effectively. All donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of the donated dollars are channeled to residents' needs. MCCAP assistance is available to all Red Feather Lakes, Crystal Lakes and Glacier View residents. Those who need help may contact Morning Star Church, P.O. Box 530, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545, phone 881-2640, or Chapel of the Pines, P.O. Box 45, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545, phone 881-3508. Continual financial support is needed. Donations may be sent or delivered to either church at the addresses above or dropped off at the Red Feather Trading Post in the village. Checks should be made payable to one of the churches with a note in the memo section that the donation is for MCCAP. Donation confirmation thank-you letters will be sent to donors who provide an address. |
