Red Feather Lakes VFD receives fire truck

Red Feather Lakes Volunteer Fire Department has a new fire truck. The 1,000-gallon, 4WD, pump and roll, foam-capable pumper was designed and built with many features to address the unique needs of the mountain community.

The 11-member fire department has wasted no time training and supplying the truck with equipment to be ready for the inevitable call that will need this apparatus.

Red Feather Lakes residents can inspect their new truck on April 24, 1 to 3 p.m., when the VFD will have an open house to show off its new addition that the community provided through a mill levy increase. Other newly acquired equipment will also be available for inspection, and the VFD hopes that many neighbors will come and see what the fire department has to offer.

Along with good equipment, volunteers are a very integral component of the Red Feather Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. The department is inviting Red Feather residents to consider joining this specialized team. At this time, the organization needs seven full-duty firefighters to complement its dedicated crew. RFLVFD will provide all necessary training, support and protective gear for those seven members that have the dedication, motivation and desire to help their community, be part of a strong friendly team, and feel pride and satisfaction in their work.
