Medical marijuana plans in pipeline to proceed

Applicants who submitted proposals for medical marijuana grow or dispensary
operations in unincorporated Larimer County by July 1 still will be allowed
to pursue approval through the land-use process.
County commissioners on Sept. 21 formalized their earlier decision to ban
such facilities proposed outside municipal boundaries.
Left unresolved at that time, however, was the fate of proposals already
in the pipeline. With the commissioners' approval of the exception, review
of the dozen pending applications can proceed.
Senior planner Rob Helmick said the proposals include grow and dispensary
operations both singular and combined. He said two already have been recommended
for approval by the planning commission and will be scheduled for hearings
before the commissioners this month.
Another seven are pending hearings before the planning commission. Depending
on resolution of outstanding issues, Helmick said, four are likely to go
before the planning commission this month or in November and the remaining
three in December or January.
County commissioners earlier this year rejected two proposed medical marijuana
dispensaries.
