When county commissioners suggested a policy that would allow employees
to carry concealed weapons at work, area residents put heat on the issue.
A week later, commissioners adopted a policy prohibiting weapons in county
workplaces. The adopted policy, however, allows employees with a valid
concealed weapons permit to seek permission to have a weapon at work if
they feel the protection is necessary.
Friends of Cherokee Park formed to squash an idea for a shooting range
in the Cherokee State Wildlife Area.
Timnath tackled the task of finding a way to provide sewage treatment for
more than 6,000 new homes that developers want to build.
A March blizzard brought welcome relief to drought-stricken landscapes;
area residents relished the opportunity to shovel snow and discuss the
weather.
