Wellington plans for centennial

Wellington, incorporated in 1905, is celebrating its centennial next year and is looking for history buffs and other volunteers to make it a great event.

The town board is seeking community residents with knowledge or interest in the history and future of Wellington and the surrounding area to form a committee which will plan and prepare for the events to celebrate the town's 100th birthday. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend a meeting on April 19 at 6 p.m. in the Wellington Town Hall, 3735 Cleveland Ave.

The town would also like to hear from anyone who has historical information about Wellington and the surrounding community. Those who want to help, although they cannot attend the April meeting, should call Cynthia Sullivan, deputy town clerk, at 568-3381 for committee applications and information.
