Waverly group elects advisory committee members

The Waverly Community Group on Sept. 15 elected advisory committee members to collect opinions and represent the varied interests of people living in the vicinity of the Waverly School.

As provided in the group's bylaws, the advisory committee consists of 13 members, including positions for four quadrant representatives. Those elected are Helen Boggs, quadrant 1; Lou Kinzli, quadrant 2; Karl Zeller, quadrant 3; and George Wallace, quadrant 4. New at-large representatives are Alta Burns, Amy Wagner and Andy Hatch.

To provide continuity for the committee's first year, six original members of the Waverly Steering Committee transferred to the advisory committee as at-large members: Jan Scott, Jane Clark, Ron Splittgerber, Jack Sipes, Sue Foster and Bob Zimdahl.

The WCG originated informally in the summer of 2002. Its "vision is to bring the Waverly community together to examine the issue of retaining its character and identity and plan for its future."

Committee members will establish a network of neighborhood contacts, as well as hold community meetings, maintain a mailing list, sponsor a web site (http:/www.waverlycommunity.org/) and host field trips and other activities.

The Waverly Advisory Committee will elect officers, determine lengths of appointment and consider upcoming activities on Oct. 20, 7 p.m., at Turning Point at Waverly School, 10431 N. County Road 15. Anyone interested in the Waverly area is invited to attend. Information is available by calling 568-7768.
