Wellington wants to know what residents think

Community leaders in Wellington want to pick the brains of town residents.
There will be two opportunities this month for residents to bring their
ideas and dreams to the attention of those who make the town's decisions
--a survey sponsored by town hall and a public forum organized by the new
chamber of commerce.
Residents should look for the survey in their mail in early March. The
public forum is set for March 25, 1 to 4 p.m., at Wellington Junior High
School.
Town administrator Larry Lorentzen said the survey is a response to the
recent economic assessment that concluded town officials need to develop
more ways of communicating with citizens. "We want to know how they like
to get their information from the town," he said.
Residents will also be asked to list their top issues, suggest priorities
and explain their thoughts about commercial growth and growth in general.
The forum will be a guided discussion of a multitude of issues facing Wellington
and a chance for people to share their vision of what the town should become
over the next five to 20 years.
"We will ask people what they want Wellington to look like when we grow
up," said Wendell Nelson, board chairman for the Wellington Area Chamber
of Commerce.
Topics such as parks, schools, community services, recreation and business
are on the agenda. Forum organizers will give all participants a chance
to express themselves as they talk about what is really important to Wellington,
Nelson said.
