Aztlan will have grand openingBack to main storyFort Collins will officially unveil the new Northside Aztlan Community Center on Nov. 30 with a 3 p.m. public ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches by Fort Collins Mayor Doug Hutchinson and City Manager Darin Atteberry. Festivities will include a Native American blessing ceremony, music, traditional Mexican dancing and refreshments, according to recreation supervisor Debra Bueno. The same weekend, the public may try out the Aztlan Center for free. From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 2, people may tour the facility and check out what it has to offer during a public open house. Saturday activities will include girls' basketball games, tennis, dodge-ball games and wheelchair rugby. There will also be cooking exhibitions, contests and free food donated by Qdoba. On Sunday, no special activities are planned, but the public can enjoy the entire facility. |
