Overland Trail to keep its nameOn April 21, the Larimer County commissioners decided that Overland Trail should retain its name, rather than being changed to County Road 21C. With its rural addressing project, the county is seeking to change most road names to numbers, except for cases where there is historical significance in the name. At the commissioners' hearing, residents presented a petition with about 80 signatures in favor of keeping the Overland Trail name. Karlin Goggin, who is in charge of the addressing project for the county building department, said the designation will preserve the historical significance of the early Overland Stage route and trail. As a result of the decision, the extension of the road that goes north of LaPorte, now named CR 21C, will have its name changed to Overland Trail. |
