Library district looks for name

The Fort Collins Regional Library District wants a new name. To help with that process, district officials are soliciting ideas from local people.

According to Paula Watson-Lakamp, the district's name change is intended to help provide a new image, now that the library is no longer a municipal facility, and to strengthen its relationship with patrons in all communities it serves.

Trustees are looking for a name that reflects the district's entire service area. The library district encompasses the entire Poudre School District, except for the Red Feather Lakes area and Wellington, plus a small part of the Thompson School District in Fort Collins' growth management area.

The deadline for name suggestions is July 18. The official name change will occur this fall. People may fill out suggestion forms at either the Main Library or the Harmony Library. Or, they may submit suggestions online at www.fcgov.com/library/contact-director.php.
