The Forks closes Aug. 3Kathy Moore, proprietor of The Forks at Livermore for nearly seven years, closed the business Aug. 3 as new out-of-state owners took over the decision-making for the building's future. Moore, who also works as a registered nurse, said, "I feel like I, myself, wasn't able to run it at its full potential." The original building for The Forks, a historic landmark, was destroyed by fire in 1985 and rebuilt in 1990. It's had several owners since then, with several periods of closure. Moore operated the business as a convenience store, deli and gas station, having closed the upstairs restaurant four years ago. Moore said that she looked for investors or partners to help with the business, but was unsuccessful. She had five part-time employees when she closed. The new buyers plan to resell the building, she said. "I'm just real hopeful that someone can come in and revamp the place and make it successful," she said. |
