Larimer County Farmers' Market opening soon

The 33rd annual Larimer County Farmers' Market opens July 12 at its new location at the Larimer County Courthouse Offices Building parking lot, 200 W. Oak St., in downtown Fort Collins. The market will be open each Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, through Oct. 18.

Larimer County's CSU Extension horticulture agent Alison Stoven, who coordinates the market, said the new space will offer more opportunities.

"The space is larger than we had, so there will be more room to move around, and we can add special features like local music," she said.

The farmers' market features fresh Colorado produce, plants, cut flowers, locally made breads, canned goods and crafts. Stoven said the children's Lil' Sprouts program will continue this year, with some great new activities.

On July 12, opening day, children age 10 and under will plant seeds for the Great Sunflower Project, designed to help kids understand where food comes from and the importance of pollinators. These special activities for children will be held on the first Saturday of each month in August, September and October.

Food stamps, debit and credit cards can be used to purchase items
