'Patriotic Star' to be raffledThe Upper Poudre Canyon Craft Fair and Quilt Show is planned for Aug. 16, a month earlier than usual. Held at the Poudre Canyon Church and Community Center, this year's show will feature many local crafters and the Nightwalker Native American Dancers. They will perform and offer their music for sale throughout the day. The fair begins at 9 a.m. and continues to 4 p.m. A bake sale will be held all day or until sold out, and the fire department will light up the grill during lunch. Many locally made quilts will be displayed in the chapel, and there will be a raffle for the community-made quilt. Canyon quilters have made a red, white and blue quilt called the "Patriotic Star" in honor of the election year. Raffle tickets for this quilt will be sold at the show and can be purchased ahead of time at Poudre River Resort or by calling Janet Rugh at 881-2465. Tickets are also available at the North Forty News office in LaPorte at 3101 Kintzley Court, Unit J. Raffle tickets are $1 each, six for $5 or 13 for $10. The chapel and community center are located at 33689 Highway 14, mile marker 88.5. Those interested in selling crafts should call 303-772-3458. |
