Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County and the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery are cooking up a chemical reaction of an event to appeal to kids of all ages and celebrate STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math – at the annual BGC Day for Kids.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County is one of hundreds of Day for Kids events planned nationwide. STEAM-fest will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, 408 Mason Court in Fort Collins. The event is free and open to the public, and coincides with the museum’s monthly free admission day. Families with kids of all ages can enjoy activities both inside the museum and outdoors in the Big Backyard.
BGC Day for Kids aligns with Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County’s overall initiative to help young people become more actively engaged in their community, live healthy lifestyles and achieve academic success – ultimately establishing a solid foundation for success now and later. The day’s activities will foster creativity, imagination, exploration and help kids develop and master various skills.
Through Day for Kids, the Boys & Girls Club and the Museum of Discovery are helping elevate the importance of offering a positive path to youth in local communities. The Boys & Girls Club is a safe place filled with adult mentors, meaningful programming and resources, and creates healthy and active youth who acquire strong character skills to become responsible and successful adults. “While our Day for Kids event is just one day, we hope to enable youth year-round to reach their full potential by offering support, programs and a safe and healthy environment to prosper and thrive in Larimer County,” said Maria Swall, BGCLC Development Director.
