Fort Collins Museum of Art Announces Exhibition
Artistic Eye On History: Fort Collins 150

From July 25th through September 28th, 2014 the Fort Collins Museum of Art will present an exhibition in honor of its Banner Health-Kaiser Permanente 2014 Masks Honorary Chair, Paula Edwards. Paula chose as her Honorary Chair project an exhibition that celebrates Fort Collins’ 150th anniversary and showcases the many outstanding artists who live and work in the Fort Collins Area. The exhibition will feature works of art that illustrate, comment upon or artistically re-envision historic events, important cultural or economic developments and important historic figures in the history of Fort Collins. The exhibition coincides with FC150 exhibition that opens in the fall of 2014 at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.

“This exhibit is a unique opportunity to look into the minds of several local artists and see what they see as they ponder the last century and a half of Fort Collins’ history,” said David Prosser, the museum’s Interim Executive Director.

The event features original short and long works by Northern Colorado playwrights and performers, including car plays, student work, comedy, drama, and the unclassifiable. The event will be held at the Museum of Discovery’s Dome Theatre and the Community Creative Center at Library Park. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.

The Rocky Mountain Flycasters chapter of Trout Unlimited resumes its fall and winter meeting schedule on Wednesday September 17th.

Author Steve Schweitzer will be both the featured fly tier and program presenter. Schweitzer, author of the popular “A Fly Fishing Guide to Rocky Mountain National Park”, will introduce his new guidebook on fishing the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

Social hour and the fly tying demonstration begin at 6:30, with the program at 7:00 pm. The meeting is free.

The First Annual Race to Repair is a competitive bicycle repair event. This fast paced, unique competition is open to anyone: hobby mechanics, professional bicycle mechanics, and anyone who wants to try something new! $30 for a team of 3. The team that repairs the most bicycle will be named “The Fastest, Finest, and Best Mechanics in Northern Colorado” for 2014 and will receive a cash prize, a custom made trophy, T-shirts, and bragging rights. All repaired bicycles will be donated to Turn Around Bikes clients.
