As a result of hazardous fuels reduction and hazard tree cutting projects, logs are being removed throughout the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest this summer. The Forest Service is urging drivers to be extra cautions around logging trucks.
Log hauling is taking place in the Red Feather Lakes area. Approximately four to six truck loads a day could be hauled along Forest Service Roads 180A and 181 and County Roads 73C, 67J, and 80C. Operations on this project are likely to occur throughout the summer and fall.
Tree removal operations have also started this summer in the Long Draw Road area. Log trucks could drive up to 10 loads a day down State Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon.
Log trucks are carrying large, heavy loads. Drivers are urged to use caution, keeping a safe distance behind trucks and providing ample space between vehicles.
