It’s time to register for the 2nd Annual Jailbreak 4-Mile Family Run/Walk being held Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. The event will once again benefit the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). Sheriff Justin Smith is hoping this will be the biggest Jailbreak ever.

Last year’s inaugural event raised more than $10,000 for the Child Advocacy Center. Almost 400 people participated in the race.

Awards will be given for the top three overall male/female finishers and the top three male/female in each age group. Age groups will be 10-under , 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70 and 70+.

This year, awards for the three best costumes will be presented. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes in keeping with the law enforcement/jailbreak theme.

There will be post-race demonstrations and exhibits by the Sheriff’s Posse, SWAT Team, K-9 Unit, Bomb Squad, Crime Scene Investigators, Search and Rescue and Wild Land Fire/Rescue. You can meet the deputies, see their equipment in action and learn about their jobs protecting our community.

The Child Advocacy Center serving Larimer County is a nonprofit organization that provides victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members access to support and services in a safe, compassionate environment. The CAC also works to prevent child abuse through education, serves as an informational resource for those unsure of how to report child abuse, and acts as an educational resource to the community about child abuse.

While the CAC works with professionals in human services and law enforcement throughout Larimer County, it is not a city or county organization and relies on the financial support of corporations, small businesses and individuals to supplement their grant writing and fundraising efforts. Proceeds from the Jailbreak 4-Mile will go toward their operating costs to help them continue to help victims of child abuse. Learn more about the Child Advocacy Center at www.larimercac.org .

The family-friendly 4-mile course begins and ends at the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, 2501 Midpoint Drive in Fort Collins. Registration is $25 in advance or $35 on race day and includes a race T-shirt. Children in strollers or wagons are free.
