With the first event in the books, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is once again inviting the public to State Forest State Park for the next “Full Moon Open House” on Saturday, Feb. 15. It begins at the parks Moose Visitor Center when the sun goes down and runs through the evening.

Anyone that missed the first open house still has an opportunity to enjoy snowshoeing or cross-country skiing the six-mile Gould Loop by moonlight.

“We had around 130 people at last month’s event,” said Park Manager Kent Minor. “We expect another great turnout and another night to remember.”

The route will be studded with glow sticks to guide skiers and snowshoers and the park will provide ‘glow-in-the-dark’ jewelry that adds to the visual experience and the fun.

State Forest State Park will provide hot chocolate and cookies along the trail at the Chocolate Cabin. In addition, visitors are invited to bring food for the potluck at the Moose Visitor Center after the evening’s trek.

“If you are getting a little tired of sitting around indoors, we encourage you to come out and enjoy some fresh air with us,” added Minor. “You can’t beat snow, beautiful scenery, good company, wildlife and a full moon.”

Participants are reminded to bring all necessary equipment and dress for winter conditions.

State Forest State Park is located on Hwy 14, 75 miles west of Ft. Collins or 25 miles east of Walden. Call the visitor’s center at 970-723-8366 for more information or visit www.parks.state.co.us
