Celebrate summer by bringing your to meet a hawk, question an owl or visit with a falcon.

The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program is inviting the public to visit our rehabilitation facility and explore the world of raptors with an Open House slated for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 23.

Visitors will learn how approximately 300 feathered friends receive care so that many of them can return to the skies and how foster parents raise orphans. Educational raptors, live birds that must remain in captivity, will be on display to offer an up close and natural experience.

“This is a great event for families, so bring the kids,” encourages Judy Scherpelz, RMRP executive director. “Many of our volunteers and staff members will be on hand to answer questions. Our gift shop will be open, for those interested in raptor-themed books, apparel, jewelry and other fun stuff! We always need volunteers, and we can show you how to get involved with our organization.”

The RMRP facility is located at 720 East Vine Drive in Fort Collins, one mile north of Mulberry, about halfway between College and Lemay Avenues. In addition to caring for injured birds of prey, the program conducts an extensive wildlife preservation and education program. Six staff members and over 140 active volunteers carry out its work.
