Fort Collins-based Rodelle’s Baking Essentials announced Jan. 17 that Stephanie Rayburn of Wellington is one of five winners of its international Rodelle Challenge contest. Rayburn will enjoy a year-long supply of Rodelle baking ingredients.
The second annual Rodelle Challenge launched in the fall and continued throughout the holiday season, celebrating the passion and experience of baking with people’s best, worst or funniest baking moments being posted on Rodelle’s Facebook page.
“After reviewing all of the great submissions, Stephanie’s story was so vanilla-centric – we loved that,” said Deb Schlichting, director of marketing for Rodelle. “We also liked that her story was family-oriented, just like the Rodelle brand heritage,” she added.
Rayburn’s winning Rodelle baking moment: “My son loves to help me bake, and he has gotten used to me using vanilla in almost everything we make together (even pancakes). He’ll say, ‘Mom, don’t forget the vanilla!’ or ‘Yaaaaay! Vanilla! I want to put it in!’ when he sees me pull the Rodelle bottle out of the cabinet. He claims it ‘smells very good.’ He’s right!”
Bakers shared their stories, recipes or memorable moments with the Rodelle community. The most creative posts included photos, videos, recipes and even special personal tributes. The winners were selected by the Rodelle team judging on everything from creativity to sentimentality.
Rodelle sweetened the pot this year by adding a KitchenAid Mixer to the grand prizes, which also include a year’s supply of premium Rodelle baking essentials: vanilla beans, baking cocoa, pure vanilla extract, almond, lemon and anise extracts and vanilla sugar. There were five winners and five runners up, who won a year’s supply of pure vanilla extract, vanilla beans, and rich dark baking cocoa.
